“If we communicated with something like music, we would never be misunderstood, because there is nothing in music to understand… But until we find this new way of speaking, until we can find a nonapproximate vocabulary, nonsense words are the best thing we’ve got.” -Jonathan Safran Foer
Take a listen to the following song, it exemplifies music’s absurd ability to take how I feel and transpose it out of my speakers and back into my ears.

After several months of deliberation and an idling tumblr account, I have finally decided to start blogging. Graduating from Cal Poly has brought heaps of expected and unexpected changes which give me reason to start documenting.
Although the past several months I have felt as though I was waiting for graduation day to come, as soon as June 11th rolled around I was trying to figure out how to put the breaks on. For what seemed like the first time all quarter, the weather was perfect and friends finally had time to spend on activities outside of studying.
My parents and brother got into town on friday, in time to make it to the Take it SLO album release party. You can get your copy of our album at www.takeitslo.com! I had been working the entire year on releasing an album with my a cappella group and since it was all done and over with, it was finally time to celebrate! Only issue was, we had plans to wake up at 5am to make it to the bars at 6 (a Cal Poly graduation day tradition). So running on 3 hours of sleep, my whole family got up and went to Creekside Brew to have mimosas before the graduation ceremony which started at 9am.
Despite the lack of sleep standing in my way, I made it to graduation on time and even snagged a spot in the front row (staying true to my nerdy self)!

After graduation we proceeded to celebrate at my house along with my roommate Laura and her family. Her mom put together games for us to play and friends shuffled in an out until about midnight when I could no longer hold my eyes open.

Laura was my partner in crime during my graduation experience.
After all the festivities were done and families headed home we had a few days in limbo, before leaving town officially. There were several consecutive days where myself and my roommates all had ample time to spend together. This led to some of the best days I have ever spent in San Luis Obispo. We soaked up the sun in our backyard, went running on the beach, went out shopping, went out to dinner, worked out in the empty school gym, sang karaoke, danced endlessly, and sat at coffee shops (my favorite pass-time!). The truth is, I would have had fun doing just about anything with these three girls. Needless to say it made leaving town much more difficult, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
